Is Alex Honnold Single or Married? Meet the Climber's Wife Ahead of 'Skyscraper' Special on Netflix

Alex Honnold will be attempting an incredible feat during the Skyscraper Live special on Netflix and viewers will likely want to know more about his personal life.

The 40-year-old climber, who was the subject of the Oscar-winning documentary Free Solo, will be attempting to climb the Taipei 101 building in Taiwan.

The 1,667-feet building is the 11th tallest building in the world and Alex will be free soloing it, which means that there will be no ropes or safety net.

So, who is Alex‘s wife? And how did they meet?

Alex is married to Sanni McCandless Honnold and they met in 2015 when she attended one of his book signings in Seattle.

“I hadn’t known a single thing about him, but after listening to him speak, I decided he was cute and funny,” Sanni said in an Outside magazine essay. “So I left my phone number on the table as I walked away. A few weeks later, we went on our first date.”

“He was like no one I had ever met: incredibly brave, quietly in need of love and approval, confident, and whip-smart,” she added.

Alex and Sanni got married in September 2020. They share two children – daughter June, born in 2022, and daughter Alice, born in 2024.

Sanni is also a climber and she became a life coach after leaving a tech job. She is now the co-founder of the outdoor retreat Outwild.
