Pro-Life Group Asks JD Vance to Stop Mail-Order Abortions
The pro-life group Susan B. Anthony Pro-Life America urged Vice President JD Vance to act against mail-order abortion drugs following his address at the 53rd annual March for Life on Friday.
The group is citing a significant post-Dobbs increase in abortions driven by chemical abortion pills.
In a statement released January 23, 2026, SBA Pro-Life America President Marjorie Dannenfelser directly referenced Vance’s remarks asking attendees to compare the pro-life movement’s position a decade ago to the present.
“When Vice President Vance said in his speech, ‘I ask you to look where the fight for life stood just one decade ago, and now look where it stands today,’ that comparison reveals a harsh reality,” Dannenfelser said.

She emphasized that the key metric for success is the annual number of abortions: “The clearest measure of whether the pro-life movement is winning or losing is the number of abortions occurring each year. According to the latest statistics, there are at least 1.1 million abortions occurring in America annually post-Dobbs. This compares to 874,000 abortions in 2016 – a 30% increase.”
Dannenfelser credited former President Donald Trump’s role in the Supreme Court’s 2022 Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization decision that overturned Roe v. Wade, but criticized the current Trump-Vance administration for failing to address abortion pills.
“Because of the indispensable role President Trump played in the overturning of Roe, we have the opportunity to save lives and serve women,” she said. “But it is because of the inaction of the Trump-Vance administration on abortion drugs that this opportunity isn’t being realized – and abortions are going up, not down.”
She specifically blamed a Biden-era policy change: “In the wake of Dobbs, Biden eliminated the in-person dispensing requirement for abortion drugs – flooding the market with mail-order abortions without any meaningful medical oversight. As a result, the Trump-Vance position of ‘back to the states’ is being undermined every single day as abortion drugs flood illegally into pro-life states.”
Dannenfelser also highlighted reported harms to women: “Women are also paying the price, with horrifying cases of abuse and coercion emerging – including in Vice President Vance’s home state of Ohio.”
She called for immediate executive action: “It is time for the Trump-Vance administration to act and at a minimum restore in-person dispensing, getting these dangerous drugs out of the mail. Doing so would allow states to enforce their laws, protect countless unborn lives, and restore essential medical oversight to stop the coercion and abuse of women nationwide.”
Vance’s speech to tens of thousands on the National Mall celebrated Dobbs as a historic victory, condemned abortion as inconsistent with civilized values, and promoted a pro-family agenda that includes reducing U.S. taxpayer funding for abortion overseas.
“In the ancient pagan world, discarding children was routine,” Vance said. “From the skeletons in brothels to the child sacrifice of the Mayans, the mark of barbarism is that we treat babies like inconveniences to be discarded rather than the blessings to cherish that they are.”
He framed the March for Life as a defense of civilization: “The March For Life… is about whether we remain a civilization under God or we return to the paganism that dominated the past.”
The event, themed “Life is a Gift,” is the world’s largest annual pro-life gathering, drawing participants from across the country to advocate for unborn children and support for mothers and families.
