Boro bring in Reid on loan
Following a long-term injury to loan goalkeeper Tom Norcott, Boro boss Spencer Day has moved quickly to secure a new shot-stopper ahead of Saturday’s trip to Eastbourne Borough.
Charlton Athletic Under 21 keeper Reid has penned a deal on loan from the Sky Bet Championship outfit until the end of the 2025/26 season.
The Hastings-born man spent 11 years at Brighton & Hove Albion as a youngster, before signing for The Addicks in September 2024.
He has already had loan spells in non-league with the likes of Burgess Hill Town, Worthing, AFC Totton and most recently Sutton United in The National League.
Tommy was rewarded with a new contract at The Valley in January 2025, lasting into the 2026 campaign.
Manager Spencer Day commented: “Because of the situation with our goalkeeper department, I’ve been looking at other goalkeepers.
“Tommy was very high on the list. He’s had a loan at Sutton in The National League this season.
“Charlton are very keen and as usual, we’re very grateful for them helping out.”
“He’s already fitted in really well. It’s always difficult when we’re trying to bed new players in, but we’re not going to hide behind the fact; defensively we’ve not been good enough this season.
“So it’s down to him to perform, enjoy this spell and we look forward to seeing him in a Boro shirt.”
Reid has been allocated shirt number 29.
