Chris Pratt Has a “Really Strong Vision” for MCU Future
During a recent appearance on the Happy Sad Confused podcast, Chris Pratt has revealed that he's pitched a "really strong vision" of Star Lord's future in the MCU to Disney.
The actor previously appeared in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, which famously promised that "Star Lord will return" in its end credits. Despite this tease, Pratt has not been announced among the extensive cast of Avengers: Doomsday, the MCU's upcoming team-up movie.
Chris Pratt Wants To Keep Playing Star Lord For Years To Come
"I'm happy to do anything [Marvel] wants me to," Pratt admitted on the podcast. He confessed that he's recently spoken to MCU president Kevin Feige about bringing his character back in the future, claiming that he has "a pretty strong idea of how I think I could contribute to [the MCU]."
Pratt has frequently been very unclear about his future in the franchise, initially reporting to Collider that "we made a promise [...] and [Star Lord] will return," but refusing to say exactly when this would be. The Guardians of the Galaxy have been notably absent from the marketing for Avengers: Doomsday, but fans have learned by now that this isn't concrete confirmation of their absence.
Marvel famously has a "10-year plan" for the franchise beyond anything that's currently been announced, and Feige has recently teased that Avengers: Secret Wars is going to be something of a "reboot" for the franchise (via Variety). This means that audiences should always be expecting new characters and stories, but Pratt clearly wants to cement himself as one of the MCU's regular faces.
"I'm down to contributing any way that I can to them setting up the next 10 years of storytelling," Pratt said. He was unable to detail exactly what this plan would look like, but he did confess that he'd love to work with James Gunn again. Gunn previously directed all three Guardians of the Galaxy movies, and is currently serving as the creative director of the DCU.
"In a dream world, it would somehow be James [Gunn]," the MCU star admitted. "But I don't think that's likely to happen. There are amazing directors out there."
