OBGYN Says ‘Do No Harm’ Means Not Killing Babies in Abortions
The CEO of the American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) declared that the medical principle of “do no harm” requires rejecting abortion as legitimate health care.
She is emphasizing protection for both mothers and their preborn children instead.
Dr. Christina Francis, a board-certified obstetrician-gynecologist and AAPLOG’s chief executive officer, delivered the statement as the organization participated in the March for Life events in the nation’s capital.
AAPLOG, which is the world’s largest organization of pro-life obstetricians and gynecologists with over 7,000 members, marched to advocate for life-affirming medicine amid ongoing national debates over abortion policy.

“The American Association of Pro-Life Obstetricians and Gynecologists (AAPLOG) marches for all our patients, mothers and their preborn children, and for the integrity of our profession,” Francis said.
She directly challenged mainstream medical organizations’ positions, arguing that labeling induced abortion as health care is a “falsehood” that has spread widely in medicine and culture.
“‘Do no harm’ demands a clear rejection of the claim that induced abortion is healthcare, a falsehood that has become pervasive in medicine and our culture at large,” Francis continued. “When leading medical organizations legitimize this false narrative, both mother and child suffer.”
Francis, who practices as an OB-GYN hospitalist in Fort Wayne, Indiana, stressed that AAPLOG remains committed to evidence-based science and ethical standards despite what she described as misinformation and professional pressures.
“Despite misinformation and intimidation, AAPLOG stands firm, grounded in medical science and ethical truth,” she said. “We are the prolife medical voice, advocating for informed mothers, defending preborn children, and supporting physicians and residents committed to life-affirming medicine.”
AAPLOG, founded in 1973, positions itself as a counterpoint to pro-abortion groups like the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. The pro-life organization focuses on defending the Hippocratic principle of “first, do no harm” by opposing procedures it views as intentionally ending the life of a preborn child.
