CBS Reveals the Fates of 10 Major Shows as 2026-27 Plans Take Shape
Once fans invest in a series, it can be frustrating to be left wondering if it will continue to be produced or whether it will be canceled. Unfortunately, viewers are often left wondering what the fate of the shows they care about will be for a long time.
CBS has just given millions of people some comfort as it revealed the fates of many of its most noteworthy shows early. This is an unusual move in the television industry, as many of the shows whose futures have been decided haven't even finished airing half of their current seasons.
CBS Has Renewed 10 of Its Most Noteworthy Series
A January 22, 2026, article from The Hollywood Reporter revealed that CBS had just renewed many of its most popular shows. The mix of series that were just confirmed to be part of the network's 2026-2027 schedule represents a mix of shows that have been around for many years and newer successes.
CBS Shows Newly Renewed for the 2026-27 Season:
- The Amazing Race
- Elsbeth
- Fire Country
- Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage
- Matlock
- NCIS
- NCIS: Origins
- NCIS: Sydney
- Survivor
- Tracker
The newest series on the list, Georgie & Mandy’s First Marriage, Matlock, and NCIS: Origins, have all been confirmed to be returning for a third season. Also relatively new, Elsbeth, NCIS: Sydney, and Tracker are coming back for their fourth chapters, as Fire Country's fifth is now assured to happen.

The two reality shows on The Hollywood Reporter's list have enjoyed much more longevity. The Amazing Race will air its 39th season in 2026 and 2027. If Survivor films two seasons in short succession, as has been the case for many years, its 51st and 52nd seasons will happen.
Other CBS Shows Were Already Announced for the 2026-2027 Television Season
Before CBS's January 2026 announcement that it had renewed 10 series, it had already confirmed that several more shows would be part of its future, as a Forbes article shows.
CBS Shows Previously Confirmed for the 2026-27 Season:
- Boston Blue
- Cupertino
- Einstein
- FBI
- Ghosts
- Sheriff Country
Cupertino and Einstein are a pair of shows that will debut for the first time during the 2026-2027 television season. Boston Blue and Sheriff Country will both be producing a second season, while Ghosts will air its sixth, and FBI will continue for its ninth. Forbes' article also states that 60 Minutes is assumed to remain a CBS stalwart and that 48 Hours is expected to retain its Saturday night timeslot. While there are still some CBS shows that remain on the bubble, the network has locked in a huge portion of its plans its the next season.
