Man United offered the chance to sign 'machine' midfielder, he impressed at AFCON 2025
Manchester United could sign a midfielder before the closure of the winter window.
United have been linked with several targets, including Besiktas midfielder Wilfred Ndidi, who was previously on Leicester City’s books.
The Red Devils had reportedly held talks over signing the Nigeria international this month. They face competition from Everton and Al Ahli for his signature.
However, journalist Fabrizio Romano says United have not held talks, despite being offered the chance to sign him.
He said on his YouTube channel: “Wilfred Ndidi has been offered to Manchester United as an opportunity for the midfield in January.
“The player would be keen on returning to the Premier League. United are aware of this chance – but have not made any bid or proposal at the moment.”
Romano also hinted that Ndidi is ready to take a pay cut to facilitate a move to Old Trafford.
Hailed as a ‘machine‘ by former Leicester City manager Brendan Rodgers, the 29-year-old is excellent at breaking down the opposition attack, possesses great stamina and work rate.
Ndidi showed his qualities again at the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations, where he led Nigeria to a third-place finish, ranking fifth for tackles and second for interceptions per game.
If United sign the former Leicester City man, it could affect the future of Manuel Ugarte, who has struggled since joining the club from Paris Saint-Germain in 2024.
Galatasaray and Ajax have been linked with the Uruguay international, but there are no formal talks yet regarding his exit.
