Under 16s KYL team blow Deal away to reach league Cup final
A massive congratulations to the KYL U16 team who beat Deal last weekend to make it to the final of the league cup.
The team, managed by Terry Clarke – who has been in charge for 10 years since mini soccer – put on a scintillating performance to win 4-0 away in the semi-final.
The first half was a tight affair with both sides creating chances but unable to break the deadlock.
A smart early second-half save by Darts keeper Bobbie proved to be the turning point of the game.
The Darts team made the breakthrough soon after, thanks to a moment of individual brilliance from Lionel, who rifled a left-foot shot into the top corner from the edge of the box. Minutes later, Lionel was involved again, driving down the left and delivering a cross for Archy to head home.
The third, saw Tiimo make a clever run and pass to Dan, who took a touch and finished well. The fourth came just nine minutes after the first, with quick, sharp passing down the right and Reggie finding Lionel, who controlled well and fired it in.
Man of the Match went to Dan, while Terry called it a ‘complete team performance.’
The final is on 23 April, 7:45pm KO at Corinthians.
A huge congratulations from all at DFC. We hope to see some make the step to the main academy in the summer where many first team players such as George Whitefield and Olly Box continued or began their Dartford FC journey.
