Morning Briefing: Mets’ Transformative Week Continues
Good morning, Mets fans!
To say it has been an eventful past week in Queens would be an understatement, as the barrage of moves continued in a big way on Wednesday.
The Mets continued the complete remodeling of their lineup earlier this week. After adding Jorge Polanco and Marcus Semien to their infield in 2025, they finally filled the third base hole on Friday as they swooped in to steal Bo Bichette from the Phillies. Stearns and co. quickly followed that up by plugging in their outfield need with Luis Robert Jr., sending Luisangel Acuña as part of a package to the White Sox to get the deal done.
Despite acquiring big bats, the starting rotation still needed a big boost, but Mets fans wouldn’t have to wait long. On Wednesday night, David Stearns swung a trade with his old team and acquired All-Star pitcher Freddy Peralta as well as RHP Tobias Myers from Milwaukee in return for Mets top prospects Jett Williams and Brandon Sproat. The Mets’ big starting pitching splash gives them their ace, alongside the rising Nolan McLean, as well as much needed high-end pitching depth in Myers.
