CATHOLIC CHURCH MOURNS FR. BERNARD TIYESI
The Catholic Church is Malawi is today mourning the passing of Fr. Bernard Tiyesi, the Parish Priest for St Patrick’s Mzedi Parish in the Archdiocese of Blantyre.
Until his death, Fr. Tiyesi served as Chaplain for Pilgrims in the Archdiocese.
According to information from the church authorities, Reverend Father Tiyesi went to stay with the Lord on Thursday morning.
He had been unwell for several weeks resulting in him being admitted at Mwaiwathu Private Hospital and most recently, Blantyre Adventist Hospital where he breathed his last.
Apart from serving as priest at several parishes in the Archdiocese of Blantyre, Fr. Bernard Tiyesi has also played a country role of National Chaplain for the Catholic Charismatic Renewal.
As National Chaplain, Fr. Tiyesi has on several occasions led Malawi pilgrims to the Namugongo Shrine for Uganda Martyrs in Uganda.
Among many other parishes, Fr. Bernard Tiyesi has served at St Pius Parish, Gambula Parish, Mtenje Parish and Mzedi Parish where he was looking after the flock of the Lord before being recalled to eternity.
Burial details for the late Fr Bernard Tiyesi will be announced later and may his soul rest in eternal peace.
