YouTube TV Just Announced Custom Multiview—Users Will Be Able to Watch News, Markets, and Shows All at Once
After YouTube TV recently introduced a discount for new subscribers, it has now unveiled an update that could change how many people watch TV. The latest viewing option that will arrive soon provides subscribers with a way to easily track the news, stock markets, and weather while enjoying a TV show or movie at the same time.
YouTube TV Introduces New Customizable Multiview Feature
On January 21, 2026, YouTube CEO Neal Mohan released a letter to users about the changes that will be made this year. While the statement included many interesting details, including that there are plans to help creators monetize and make the service safer for kids and teens, one revelation about YouTube TV stood out. Mohan revealed that users will "soon" be able to customize their multiview experience.
In 2023, YouTube TV introduced a multiview option that allowed sports fans to watch four games simultaneously. To be able to track everything that is happening, users who are enjoying that feature have been able to switch the audio they are hearing between the four channels. After its initial rollout, the TV service expanded the available options. However, YouTube TV viewers have always only been able to choose from predetermined packages of specific channels that are grouped. That is now going to change soon. As Mohan revealed, users will soon be able to choose any four channels they want to watch simultaneously.
Mohan also teased another planned change that will also be launched "soon." According to the CEO, the TV service will allow users to choose from 10 specialized plans that he describes as "spanning sports, entertainment, and news." He states that these changes combined are "all designed to give subscribers more control."
Why YouTube TV’s Customizable Multiview Feature Could Be a Huge Deal
When YouTube TV introduced multiview, the appeal to sports fans who enjoy tracking multiple games simultaneously was obvious. The service's new customizable version of the feature also offers users fantastic options that could make a major difference to how they watch television.
When the feature becomes widely available, users will be able to stay aware of the news, track the stock market, keep an eye on weather updates, and enjoy a movie or TV show at the same time. That will allow users to combine being entertained with staying informed without having to stare at their phone with their TV on in the background. If you regularly want to watch sports with someone who has no interest in the room, this could be a game-changer for you. Being able to have three channels of sports on the TV with a show or movie to entertain the other person could help make everyone involved happier.
