Bills Owner Destroys His Own Player In Bizarre Press Conference
The New England Patriots are back in control of the AFC East, and the Buffalo Bills are not taking it well.
After a brief six-year hiatus, the Patriots won the division for the first time since their historic 11-year streak during the 2010s.
The Bills are facing criticism from all walks of the NFL world. Fans were quick to point out that they are the only franchise in history to make six straight playoff runs without a single Super Bowl appearance.
The drama seemingly came to a head Monday morning when the Bills’ ownership made the shocking decision to fire longtime head coach Sean McDermott.
That was until the same owner, Terry Pegula, held a press conference with his general manager, Brandon Beane, and delivered a crushing quote on the team’s first selection in the 2024 NFL Draft, Keon Coleman.
“I’ll address the Keon situation. The coaching staff pushed to draft Keon,” Pegula said. “I’m not saying Brandon wouldn’t have drafted him, but [Coleman] wasn’t his next choice.”
Mind you, Coleman is still very much on the Bills roster. The receiver struggled severely in his second NFL season but is still just 22 years old.
He was a healthy scratch several times after catching just 29 passes in his rookie year.
An owner coming out and blaming the head coach he just fired for drafting the player who recorded the second-most receiving yards of any wide receiver on his roster stands out as one of the most bizarre stories of the year.
“That was Brandon (Beane) being a team player and taking advice of his coaching staff who felt strongly about the player,” Pegula said. “And you know, he’s taken — for some reason — heat over it, and not saying a word about it. But I’m here to tell you the true story.”
Pegula attempted to backpedal after throwing his own player under the bus, but this story will continue to pick up traction.
