Morning Briefing: Outrage in Philly after Bichette Signing
Good morning, Mets fans!
There was a strong reaction to the Mets swooping in to sign Bo Bichette after the Phillies believed they had a deal with the two-time All-Star, per John Harper of SNY. On the The Phillies Show podcast, Jim Salisbury apparently said, “It feels like the Lufthansa heist at JFK from Goodfellas.” And Todd Zolecki: “The word livid was used in the front office.”
Ruben Amaro Jr., former Phillies GM (and Mets first base coach), the third member of The Phillies Show podcast, called the Mets’ signing of Bichette “a panic move” after losing Kyle Tucker and said the $42 million per year for three years with opt-outs was “unreasonable, just to get him.”
