Man United poised to send two young stars out on loan in winter transfer window
Manchester United have usually used the winter transfer window as an opportunity to send academy stars on loan.
They look set to continue that tradition with two of their brightest stars.
According to The Athletic, Tyler Fredricson is expected to attract loan interest from clubs in the EFL and Europe’s top divisions.
United consider the defender to be a highly regarded prospect and believe he would benefit from regular playing time.
Fredricson made his senior debut for United last season under former manager Ruben Amorim.
He has made two appearances for the Red Devils this season.
He started in the Carabao Cup defeat to fourth-tier Grimsby Town earlier in the campaign.
The 20-year-old came on as a late substitute against Newcastle United last month.
Fredricson has the talent, but he is not yet ready to handle the intensity of the Premier League.
He needs to play regularly over the next six months before the new United head coach can assess him in pre-season.
The second United academy star who looks set to leave the club on loan is Ethan Wheatley.
Wheatley spent the first half of the 2025-26 season with Northampton Town.
It was a very positive loan spell for the 19-year-old, as he made 25 appearances for the League One side and bagged three goals and four assists.
The same report reveals that the teenage sensation will join Bradford City for the remainder of the campaign.
Currently placed third in the League One table, Bradford are strongly pursuing promotion this season.
If Wheatley can score goals regularly and help take his side to the Championship, United may look to integrate him into the senior squad next term.
