Brooklyn & Victoria Beckham's Controversial Wedding Dance Resurfaces Amid Family Feud
For three years, there has been speculation about what may have caused a rift between the Beckham family. But who could’ve guessed that Brooklyn Beckham’s mother-son wedding day dance with his mom, Victoria, was one of the many issues in the feud.
Brooklyn addressed the moment, which has long been reported on as one of the early issues in the family’s relationship, in a bombshell Instagram statement.
“My mum hijacked my first dance with my wife, which had been planned weeks in advance to a romantic love song,” the 26-year-old wrote, reflecting on his April 2022 wedding to wife Nicola Peltz Beckham.
“In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage where the schedule was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead,” he added. “She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable [and] humiliated in my entire life.”
In May 2025, an insider described the moment to People, claiming that Victoria “ruined” Brooklyn and Nicola’s wedding with the odd stunt. “Marc Anthony, who is a friend of the Beckhams, offered to perform as a gift at the wedding,” the source explained. “Before the song began, Marc Anthony asked Brooklyn to come to the stage, and then announced, ‘The most beautiful woman in the room tonight, come on up…. Victoria Beckham!'”
“It wasn’t appropriate,” the source said, adding that everyone then saw “Nicola run from the room crying.”

Later, sources spoke to Page Six, sharing more details about the wedding dance. “[The newlyweds] had their first dance and a second, as is evidenced, and then Nicola had the traditional dance with her father,” a source who was at the reception said.
“Much later in the evening when Marc Anthony performed, lots of people got up to dance, and yes, finally, then Brooklyn and Victoria had a dance, as did David and his daughter, [Harper],” the source continued. “Everyone is mystified why that would have upset Nicola.”

However, a separate source told Page Six that the earlier dances with Brooklyn and Nicola were to get photos while she was still in her ceremony dress, before another planned dance later. The source said that Brooklyn and Nicola selected Anthony’s song, “You Sang To Me,” for a dance later in the evening.
“This was the special, romantic, big dance,” the insider said, adding that it was “known, planned and choreographed.”
“This was a six-figure investment in the band. It was a lot of planning and different choreography for the evening to make sure this was going to be their big moment. Everyone in both families knew that, and [Victoria] chose to do this,” the insider added.
In addition to his claim about the dance, Brooklyn appeared to confirm reports that Victoria bailed on designing Nicola’s wedding dress in the “eleventh hour” and claimed that his parents “have been trying endlessly to ruin my relationship since before my wedding, and it hasn’t stopped.”
Brooklyn added that he and his parents are not on speaking terms. “I do not want to reconcile with my family. I’m not being controlled, I’m standing up for myself for the first time in my life,” he said.
