Tom Brady Wants One A-List, Oscar-Winning Actor to Play Him in a Movie
Seven-time Super Bowl champion Tom Brady is one of the most legendary figures in sports, so it's only fitting that he would want a legendary Hollywood star to portray him in a future movie.
During a recent interview, Brady was asked about the possibility of a future biopic detailing his life, and he certainly wasn't shy about suggesting one of the most high-profile actors of all time to play the role.
'He's a Special Guy'
Brady is currently in the midst of working on a multi-part documentary series in partnership with the new Fanatics Studios. The upcoming series, called One More Drive, follows Brady's preparation to play in the upcoming Fanatics Flag Football tournament.
During an event for the studio's launch, the seven-time Super Bowl champ was asked to cast a potential biopic about his life.
Brady had previously thrown out the "Boston boys" – Matt Damon and Mark Wahlberg. This time, however, he went in a different direction: Leonardo DiCaprio.
"I like Leo, man, he's a special guy," Brady said during an interview with Access Hollywood. "We've got a lot of time to kind of hang out and talk and [he 's] such a deep, thoughtful guy. He's got a tremendous perspective on a lot of things, and we've had a lot of fun together."
Brady seemed to think that DiCaprio would be a great choice to play him in an upcoming movie.
"If he's down," Brady said. "We've got to write the script first."
A Real Possibility?
While it's obvious why Brady might want the Oscar winner to play him in a movie, it's probably not the most realistic choice, especially if it's a biopic about his life.
At 51 years old, DiCaprio is already six years older than Brady was when he retired from the NFL. For a movie that follows Brady's younger life and career, it wouldn't make much sense for DiCaprio to play the role.
If Brady were looking for someone to play a younger version of himself, it would make more sense for an actor like Austin Butler, Chase Stokes, or Kit Connor. Even 37-year-old Glen Powell recently played a 20-something football player in the hit Hulu series Chad Powers.
Given Brady's legendary career, it seems likely that there will be a biopic about him one day. But it's pretty clear that DiCaprio will not have the role.
