Dolphins Reportedly Hire Jeff Hafley As New Head Coach
Since firing Mike McDaniel on Jan. 8, the Miami Dolphins have been searching for a replacement, and it appears they’ve found their guy.
The Dolphins are hiring Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley to be the franchise’s next head coach.
NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport reported on Monday that the Dolphins had “zeroed in” on Hafley, with ESPN’s Adam Schefter reporting a few minutes later that the two sides had agreed to a deal.
Hafley’s NFL coaching journey started in 2012 with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, where he served as assistant defensive backs coach before earning a promotion to defensive backs coach in 2013. He continued in that role with the Cleveland Browns from 2014 to 2015 and the San Francisco 49ers from 2016 to 2018.
After a stint in college football, including head coaching duties at Boston College from 2020 to 2023, Hafley returned to the pros in 2024 as the Green Bay Packers’ defensive coordinator. Under his leadership, the Packers boasted a top-10 defense in 2024, ranking sixth in scoring. The 2025 season saw solid performance early on, though injuries, including to star pass-rusher Micah Parsons, impacted late results.
