Scientific Conference in Germany Explores Future of Afghanistan’s Political System and Social Justice
A two-day scientific conference in Germany gathered Afghan scholars and political activists to discuss the future of Afghanistan’s political system, democracy, and social justice.
A conference titled “Future Outlook of Afghanistan” held in Frankfurt called for establishing a political system grounded in human, Islamic, democratic values and social justice, participants said in a resolution.
The statement stressed that Afghanistan needs citizen-centred and nation-focused institutions capable of ensuring balanced, inclusive and sustainable development after decades of conflict and instability.
The two-day meeting brought together academics, political activists and civil society figures to discuss Afghanistan’s political system, social justice, sustainable development and its regional and global position.
Afghanistan has faced repeated cycles of state collapse, war and foreign intervention, leaving governance structures weak and public trust deeply eroded, analysts say.
Since the Taliban’s return to power, international engagement has remained limited, while restrictions on women’s rights and political participation have drawn widespread criticism.
The resolution warned that instability in Afghanistan has historically affected regional and global security, urging future foreign policy to be based on “active and positive neutrality.”
Participants also emphasised the need for meaningful dialogue to preserve political stability and national unity, describing inclusive governance as essential for long-term peace.
They called on the Taliban to take concrete steps to respond to the legitimate demands of the Afghanistan people, including accountability, rule of law and civic freedoms.
The conference concluded that without genuine reforms, respect for women’s rights and inclusive political participation, Afghanistan risks prolonged isolation and continued instability at home and beyond.
