Start Time Confirmed For Patriots’ AFC Championship Game With Broncos
The New England Patriots are one victory away from the Super Bowl following Sunday’s 28-16 win over the Houston Texans.
New England advanced to the AFC Championship Game in a sloppy, turnover-filled triumph over Houston. Following consecutive home wins, the Patriots will travel to Denver to face the Broncos for the conference title.
After New England’s victory, the NFL announced the details for next weekend’s matchup. The Patriots will play the Broncos on Sunday, Jan. 25, at 3 p.m. ET.
CBS will televise the AFC Championship Game, and viewers can also stream it on Paramount+.
The Patriots finished the regular season third in total offense, but their defense has carried them to double-digit playoff wins. They first sacked Justin Herbert six times in a 16-3 victory over the Los Angeles Chargers before locking down the Texans in the AFC Divisional Round.
Houston averaged just 3.3 yards per play, gaining a mere 48 rushing yards on 22 carries. Making matters worse, C.J. Stroud threw four interceptions — one returned for a touchdown — and lost a fumble.
The Patriots will look to improve to 9-0 on the road when playing the Broncos, who survived a 33-30 overtime win over the Buffalo Bills. But the AFC West champions suffered a huge loss in the process, as quarterback Bo Nix broke his ankle at the end of the game.
That places former Patriots reserve Jarrett Stidham in line to make his fifth career start. The former fourth-round pick has a 78.3 passer rating with eight touchdowns and eight interceptions.
