With Joe Thuney expected to start at left tackle, Bears make Braxton Jones inactive for Rams game
With the Bears expected to start Joe Thuney at left tackle Sunday night, the Bears activated guards Jordan McFadden and Luke Newman for Sunday night's divisional round playoff game against the Rams. McFadden is expected to start at left guard when Thuney slides to left tackle.
The Bears had three different starting left tackles this season, including Ozzy Trapilo, who was put on injured reserve last week after hurting his knee against the Packers. Coach Ben Johnson opted against starting either Braxton Jones or Theo Benedet at left tackle, though, despite their experience this year. Jones, who started the first four games at left tackle, was made inactive 90 minutes before kickoff of Sunday's playoff game.
The Bears ruled out third-string quarterback Case Keenum, receiver Jahdae Walker, cornerback Nick McCloud, linebacker Ruben Hyppolite II and defensive end Joe Tryon-Shoyinka. Tryon-Shoyinka was recovering from a concussion and McCloud has a groin injury.
