Couch to 5k – Jan to March 2026
Couch to 5k (C25K) is a free, progressive, 9 week programme of 3 sessions a week, for people who want to have a go at running, previous runners who want to get back in the habit, rehabbing runners – or anyone at all!
Starting 5 Jan 2026:
Mondays – Meet at Hut 55, by Walmer Paddling Pool, 6.50pm for 7pm away. First timers are requested to complete this form and bring it with you. 30 minute session. The loos there close at 7.30pm.
Weds or Thurs – a session under your own steam or with some of your new running friends! In the early weeks, this session is the same as Monday. Your run leader will tell you what to do.
Saturday – meet at Walmer and Deal Seafront parkrun, sea end of Clarence Road, Walmer, 8.45am meet to 9am away. No need to do the whole 5k – just do your session and finish – or carry on for the whole way if you like!
Clothing – please wear trainers – Converse type shoes don’t support your feet or ankles so please don’t wear them. A few light layers in cold weather is a good idea, and a hat and gloves if it’s really cold. A small bottle of water is a good idea too.
Please run responsibly – if you feel you need to, check with your GP before you start any exercise programme – we aim to get everyone to Week 9, Session 3 – and beyond! – in good shape.
