Water Polo Advanced Certification Course for Referees and Delegates 25/26 now available online

European Aquatics is delighted to announce the Water Polo Advanced Certification Course for Referees and Delegates 2025/2026 is now available to stream via the European Aquatics Academy online education platform.

The clinic reinforces European Aquatics’ ongoing commitment to ensuring high-quality, consistent officiating across all elite competitions, at both club and national team level.

Participants can enjoy a detailed assessment of the 2025/26 season to date by Andy I.M. Hoepelman, Chair of the European Aquatics Delegates and Referees Commission, who also leads a focused discussion on impeding.

Centre forward and centre defender interactions are analysed by Tamas Molnar, Chair of the World Aquatics Technical Water Polo Committee and EA TWPC Vice-Chair, while Stavroula Kozompoli, World Aquatics TWPC Secretary and EA DRC Member, addresses game scenarios unique to women’s water polo.

Angel Moliner, an EA DRC Member, provides clarification on penalty decisions, before Dejan Perisic, European Aquatics’ Technical Officials Manager for Water Polo, closes the clinic with valuable insights into simulation, excessive aggression and violent conduct.

“These courses are important for continuing to raise refereeing standards,” stated Dejan Perisic. “We want to protect the integrity of all European Aquatics competitions and show the greatest respect to all participants by providing the highest level of water polo technical officials.”

The online session is available free of charge to all the invited participants – these are the referees and delegates officiating at the 2026 European Water Polo Championships in Belgrade or Funchal.

Additional officials – through a paid registration on the EA Academy’s online learning platform – can also access the course, giving referees from every level the opportunity to benefit from the expert sessions and further enhance the quality of officiating across Europe.
