White Sox Reportedly Interested In Former All-Star Outfielder
The stove is heating up around the league, as there have been two massive deals in the last 48 hours. Kyle Tucker reportedly signed with the Los Angeles Dodgers, while Bo Bichette reportedly signed with the New York Mets.
However, with all that commotion, an interesting tidbit of White Sox news recently dropped. According to Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the White Sox are showing interest in outfielder Michael Conforto.
Conforto, 32, but will be 33 when the season starts, played last year with the Los Angeles Dodgers. However, he has spent a majority of his 10 year career with the New York Mets, including a trip to the all-star game. Conforto has been someone Sox fans have linked to the team in free agency the past few years, and it now seems like it could be a reality.
Last season Conforto slashed .199/.305/.333, adding 12 homeruns and 36 RBIs. This was good for -.7 WAR, according to Baseball Reference. While the average was down, he still showed flashes of his power, as he has 179 homeruns in his major league career.

This was an uncharacteristic season for Conforto, as in 2024, he hit .237 with 20 homeruns and 66 RBIs for the San Francisco Giants. That is more along the typical season for Conforto, as he is a career .245 hitter and averages 20-25 homers and 70ish RBIs.
Conforto would be a perfect buy low candidate for the White Sox, as they could use another proven right fielder. According to Spotrac, his contract value is about 6.6 million dollars. This contract would be right in the White Sox price, as it wouldn’t break the bank. However, if it is a one year deal, I would imagine it’s closer to 10 million.
As of right now, the White Sox don’t have much major league experience in right field, as there is just 408 games of MLB experience combined between Tristan Peters, Everson Pereira, Derek Hill, and Brooks Baldwin. Conforto himself has played in over 1100 games and would add a nice veteran presence to the lineup.
Conforto would add another lefty power bat to the lineup and could hit 20+ homers in the hitter friendly ballpark that is Guaranteed Rate Field. According to Baseball Reference’s projections, he is projected to hit .220 with 16 homeruns, adding 53 RBIs. That would be a nice addition to the White Sox lineup.
The White Sox could even choose to deploy Conforto in a platoon, as he has hit righties better over his career. Either way, the White Sox are smart to show interest in Conforto, and if they sign him, that could wrap up their offseason on the hitting side of things.
