Man Utd Player Ratings: One flawless 10/10, four 9/10s deliver ultimate response to pundits vs City
Manchester United delivered a statement performance by defeating Manchester City 2–0 in the Premier League at a roaring Old Trafford on Saturday.
Michael Carrick set his side up in a disciplined yet aggressive 4-4-2 shape.
From the opening exchanges, the hosts looked sharper, stronger and far more purposeful for large spells of the contest.
United thought they had struck twice, only for both celebrations to be cruelly cut short by the raised offside flag.
The Red Devils kept the pressure relentless, and their persistence was finally rewarded as Bryan Mbeumo broke the deadlock just before the hour mark.
The momentum never dipped, and Patrick Dorgu doubled the advantage after a moment of brilliance created by substitute Matheus Cunha.
Mason Mount even marked his cameo with a first-touch finish, but once again the offside flag spared City further embarrassment.
Following days of relentless and often unfair criticism from pundits, United’s players produced the ideal on-pitch reply, silencing the noise in emphatic fashion.
