Who will own and run Fiorentina after death of club President Commisso?
Fiorentina could see a change in hierarchy in the coming months following the death of club President Rocco Commisso, but for now, control of the club will be handed over to his wife, Catherine, according to reports on Saturday.
Fiorentina confirmed on Saturday morning that club President, Rocco Commisso, has died at the age of 76.
Who will take control of Fiorentina after Rocco Commisso?
Commisso assumed control of Fiorentina on June 6, 2019 in a deal that cost a reported €160m. He also provided a further €130m for the construction of Viola Park, and around €25m per season in sponsorship through his Mediacom empire.
Now, according to Corriere Fiorentino, the club is worth around €350m-€400m on the current market.
For now, the day-to-day running of the club will be entrusted to general manager Alessandro Ferrari, who effectively replaced the late Joe Barone, and CEO Mark Stephen.
At the beginning of February, Fabio Paratici will also be officially added to the club’s senior management.
Ownership of the club will be kept in the Commisso family for the time being. Rocco Commisso’s wife, Catherine, will assume control and any decisions over a potential sale of the club in the future will be down to her.
