Gymbacks Host Tigers for Home Opener
The No. 10 Arkansas gymnastics team will open its home slate this Sunday with a top 10 matchup as the No. 6 Auburn Tigers come to town.
The Gymbacks haven’t lost to the Tigers at home since 2022 and have won three of the last regular season meetings between the two teams in Fayetteville. Arkansas and Auburn are most closely matched on beam heading into this weekend’s contest, with both teams earning a 49.175 on the event last time out.
The Razorbacks will be looking for their first win of the season after they fell 196.775-196.700 to Minnesota last weekend. While they didn’t get one in the win column, it was the second-highest opening team score in program history for Arkansas.
The Tigers began their 2026 schedule with a victory over NC State in Auburn, 197.150-196.075. Auburn is currently the best floor and vault team in the country after the Tigers opened the season with huge 49.475 and 49.500 scores on the events, respecitively.
Contests between Arkansas and Auburn have drawn some historic crowds over the years, as two of the Gymbacks’ top 11 attendance meets have come against the Tigers. The first came on Jan. 14, 2022, where 11,031 fans gathered for Arkansas’ first-ever meet at Bud Walton Arena, still the second-biggest crowd in program history. On Jan. 26, 2024, 7,147 attended the program’s second-ever sellout of Barnhill Arena.
Sunday’s action is set for 4:45 p.m. at Bud Walton Arena, with doors opening at 3:45. Single meet and season tickets are available online or in person. The meet will be broadcast live on SEC Network with Alex Perlman (PxP) and Kennedy Baker (analyst) on the call, with live scoring provided by Virtius.
