Riley Returns
Pontypridd RFC are delighted to announce that Lloyd Riley has rejoined the club on a permanent basis following a short stint with Pontypool RFC.
Lloyd came through the Mini and Junior ranks at Pontypridd before joining local club Rhydyfelin. He then signed for the Valley Commandos ahead of last season and made 24 appearances which included lifting the Welsh Cup at the Principality Stadium last April. The 21 year old, who can play across the backrow and in the second row joined Pontypool last summer but has made 5 appearances for Pontypridd this season on permit, taking his tally to 29 overall.
Lloyd Riley has now returned to Sardis Road on a full-time basis and we can’t wait to see him donning the famous black and white regularly.
On rejoining the club, Lloyd said: “I’m over the moon to be back at Ponty and I can’t wait for rest of the season with the boys. As a local Rhydyfelin boy putting on that Ponty jersey is an indescribable feeling and I’ve missed the buzz of playing in front of the Ponty fans at Sardis Road. I’m looking forward to sharing the field with a quality bunch of boys and hopefully win some silverware once again.”
Commenting on Lloyd’s signing, Ponty Team Manager Stuart Rix said: “We were disappointed to lose Lloyd to the draw of SRC rugby in the summer, but understood his decision to go. We have kept in contact with him and he has stepped in a couple of times to help us already this season. When the opportunity to re-sign Lloyd came about it was an easy decision for us. His physical style of play will give us a much needed boost in this year’s league campaign.”
Croeso nôl, Lloyd!
