Report: Mets Sign Bo Bichette to Three-Year Deal
Bo Bichette is a Met!
Per Jon Heyman of the New York Post, the Mets and the right-handed shortstop from Orlando, Florida are in agreement on a three-year, $126 million deal. The deal is still pending a physical and will include two opt-outs. Jeff Passan of ESPN and Will Sammon of The Athletic also reported the news.

Though Bichette has played the majority of his career at shortstop, Jon Morosi of MLB Network reported that according to a source, he is expected to play third base for the Mets as he makes the transition from the American League to the National League.
Bichette was one of the top free agents on the market, and after losing out on Kyle Tucker, the Mets quickly pivoted and got their guy.
Bichette was drafted by the Toronto Blue Jays in the second round (pick No. 66 overall) of the 2025 MLB Draft and had spent the entirety of his career with the Jays until now. Over the course of his seven-year big league career, he has slashed .294/.337/.469, which comes out to an .806 OPS. He has a career total of 190 doubles, eight triples, 111 home runs, 437 RBIs and 438 runs scored. He also has 21 stolen bases.
Last season alone, Bichette finished the year tying his career-best batting average with a slash line of .311/..357/.483. He recorded 181 hits, which ranked second in the American League. Bichette also ranked second in batting average (.311), No. 21 in at-bats (582), No. 13 in slugging percentage (.483), No. 12 in RBIs (94), second in doubles (44), and No. 10 in on-base percentage (.357).
Per USA Today’s Bob Nightengale, the Philadelphia Phillies met Bichette’s request for a seven-year, $200 million offer last night and believed that they were going to land him before the Mets sealed the deal.
Bichette is the third notable infield addition for the Mets this offseason after they acquired second baseman Marcus Semien from the Texas Rangers in a trade that sent Brandon Nimmo the other way and signed Jorge Polanco to a two-year, $40 million deal.
