Jennifer Lawrence Says She Lost Role to Margot Robbie for Being 'Not Pretty Enough'
Jennifer Lawrence says that Quentin Tarantino wanted her to play Sharon Tate in Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, but she ultimately wasn’t cast because she was deemed “not pretty enough” for the role.
Margot Robbie eventually landed the part and it’s among the most memorable films of her career thus far.
Jennifer, 35, opened up about the situation in a recent podcast episode of Happy Sad Confused with host Josh Horowitz.

After Josh said to her, “Tarantino has been chasing you. He wants you,” Jennifer replied, “I don’t know about that.”
“It’s true, he said that. The Hateful Eight, the Jennifer Jason Leigh part was originally written for you, I believe,” Josh said.
Jennifer joked, “I turned it down, which I should not have done.”
“And I think Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, too, didn’t he want you?” Josh asked.
Jennifer then revealed, “Well, he did and then everybody was like, ‘she’s not pretty enough to play Sharon Tate.’”
“I’m pretty sure it is true,” she added. “Or it’s that thing where I’ve been telling the story for so long that way, I believe it. I’m pretty sure that’s true, or he just never was considering me for the part and the internet just went out of its way to call me ugly.”
Jennifer has confirmed that she’s reprising one of her fan-favorite roles.
