With Super Bowl LX bringing unprecedented crowds to Santa Clara County, getting around during Super Bowl weekend will require a little extra planning—especially for those hoping to avoid gridlocked roads and scarce parking. For many residents and visitors, public transit will be the most predictable way to get where they need to go.

Santa Clara Valley Transportation Authority (VTA) is preparing for higher-than-usual ridership across its bus and light rail network in the days surrounding the game, including travel to watch parties, fan events, and entertainment hubs throughout the county.  We strongly encourage riders to plan ahead and check vta.org/SBLX for full details, including service schedules, fares, parking, and regional transfers.

Know Before You Go

If you’re taking VTA during Super Bowl weekend, the most important thing you can do is plan your trip before you head out. Service will be running, but vehicles are expected to be busy—particularly in the hours leading up to major events and immediately afterward.

VTA recommends using the Transit app to plan your trip and manage fares. The app provides real-time arrival information, service alerts, and step-by-step directions that reflect current conditions. For riders unfamiliar with the system, it’s the easiest way to figure out which bus or light rail line to take, when to leave, and where to hop off.

Checking the app shortly before departure can also help riders spot delays or crowding and adjust their plans if needed. After the game, light rail riders headed towards Mountain View/Caltrain should line up on the Gate A side of the stadium or Gate F for those traveling to Milpitas BART, Alum Rock, Winchester and Santa Teresa.

Fares and How to Pay

The easiest way to pay is through Transit’s one-click fare purchase feature, which allows riders to purchase and activate fares directly on their phones. Contactless payment via Clipper or credit/debit cards also helps keep boarding efficient during busy periods. Just tap to pay at the designated Clipper machine at a light rail station or on the bus. No need to tap when you disembark.

 We’re Here to Help

Look for Super Bowl LX signs and banners at the stations to help you find your way around VTA; they are there to guide you to the correct platform and boarding location for trains to Levi’s Stadium. VTA will also have ambassadors at key locations to help answer your questions and point you in the right direction.

Plan ahead, check the Transit app, and give yourself extra time—VTA will help get you where you need to go during one of the biggest weekends the Bay Area will see in a decade. For more information, contact Customer Service at (408) 321-2300 or email Customer.Service@vta.org. We’re here to help!
