New Map Shows Where “Scumbag” Men are Forcing Women to Take Abortion Pills
A new interactive map launched by the pro-life organization 40 Days for Life is exposing what advocates call a disturbing rise in cases where abusive men coerce or trick pregnant women into taking abortion pills.
This is highlighting the dangers of deregulated access to these drugs and the devastating impact on women and their unborn children.
The database, which tracks incidents across the United States and internationally, comes amid growing concerns from pro-life groups that loosened federal restrictions on abortion pills have empowered “scumbags” to exploit vulnerable women, leading to severe health complications, trauma and the loss of unborn babies.
“We just saw this trend since the unbelievable deregulation of abortion pills,” said Shawn Carney, CEO of 40 Days for Life. “We’ve had men sprinkling abortion pills over blueberry pancakes. We’ve seen them put them in smoothies.”
Carney described the coercion as “the ultimate abuse of women,” arguing that the lack of safeguards allows these drugs to fall into the wrong hands.

“There just seems to be this shield around these horrible scumbags, as we call them, that this is just sort of a side effect of having access to abortion,” he said. “Nobody ever advocated for this huge deregulation of abortion pills because you don’t know whose hands they will get into, and you don’t know how they would be used… Now we’re seeing how they’re used.”
The map documents specific cases, including a British man who slipped one dose of the abortion pill into a woman’s drink and administered a second during “kinky sex” while she was blindfolded, resulting in her losing the ability to have children and suffering lasting trauma.
Another incident involved an Afghani cab driver who obtained the pill online, tied up his pregnant mistress and forced her to take it.
Pro-life advocates point to the Biden administration’s 2021 decision to relax restrictions on mifepristone — the primary drug in medical abortions — as a key factor in the uptick. The changes allowed for telehealth prescriptions and mail delivery, which critics say have created opportunities for abuse without medical oversight.
Abortion pills now account for about two-thirds of all abortions in the U.S., up 53% from 2020 to 2023, according to the pro-abortion Guttmacher Institute.
Following the Supreme Court’s 2022 overturning of Roe v. Wade, several Democratic-led states, including New York, passed “shield laws” to protect the mailing of abortion pills across state lines – which allows more abusive men to target women.
