“I Beat My Case”, J6 Political Prisoner Nick Ochs Releases Explosive New Memoir “Age Of Rot” After Supreme Court Victory
By Daniel Goodwyn
Nick Ochs is a free man. But unlike many January 6th defendants waiting for a presidential pardon, Ochs walked out of federal prison early, legally innocent of the felony charge that stole two years of his life.
Now, the conservative media personality and former J6 political prisoner is telling his story in his first book, Age of Rot: A Right Wing Dissident’s Prison Dispatches from a Torn America.
Ochs, who was released just days before the 2024 election, beat his conviction after the Supreme Court ruled that the Department of Justice had improperly applied the Sarbanes-Oxley “witness intimidation” statute (1512c2) against January 6th protesters. He served two years of a four-year sentence for a crime that the highest court in the land effectively declared did not exist in this context.
“I would have had no argument against pleading guilty to trespassing and taking a $48 fine. That’s what leftists get who walk into federal buildings, except even those charges are also dropped,” Ochs said of his experience. “Instead, they saw I had run for office and was a known person, so they tried to hammer me into dust. Almost worked, too.”

Dispatches from the Gulag
Age of Rot is not your typical political memoir. Written entirely from inside federal prison, the book serves as a collection of cultural commentary, humor, and raw observation from the belly of the beast. Ochs describes a “torn America” through the lens of a political hostage, detailing the absurdity of the two-tiered justice system with a wit that refused to be broken by incarceration.
In the book, Ochs details the surreal reality of prison life—from sewing grenade pouches for the U.S. Army for pennies an hour to dreaming of a “fake gold cell phone” upon release. He writes about the “Pax Libtardus” of the Biden years and offers a scathing yet hilarious critique of the regime that imprisoned him.
However, the humor in Age of Rot is set against a backdrop of severe hardship. Ochs was subjected to harsh treatment, including significant time in solitary confinement and false allegations of attempting to incite prison riots—allegations he exposes in the book as bureaucratic warfare designed to break his spirit.
Most heartbreakingly, Ochs missed the birth of his second son while incarcerated. He writes poignantly about meeting his child for the first time in a prison visitation room, a stark reminder of the human cost inflicted by the weaponization of the justice system.
“A Good January 6 Book”
The book has already garnered high praise from prominent voices in the movement.
Gavin McInnes writes, “Nick would write us letters from prison, and we used AI to make him a talking head in a cell… The bastard is compelling! Nick might be the smartest person I’ve ever met.”
Milo Yiannopoulos added his endorsement, stating, “At long last, a good January 6 book. Can they all finally shut up about it now? Please?”
Ochs’s story is a testament to resilience. Despite being targeted for an attempted framing as the “DC pipe bomber”—a chilling detail revealed in the book—and facing a system rigged against him, he never folded.
