Are any Tottenham players close to a suspension? Yellow card update
Ahead of Tottenham Hotspur’s London derby against West Ham United, we take a look at where the Spurs players stand on accumulated yellow cards.
Spurs welcome the Hammers to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium for what is a huge game for both London clubs.
Some even think that the team which loses on Saturday could end up sacking their manager, with both Thomas Frank and Nuno Espirito Santo under immense pressure.
The Lilywhites are still looking for their first home win of 2026 as they desperately attempt to arrest their slide down the table.
Cristian Romero’s yellow card tally is a concern for Tottenham
The Premier League’s rules state that the players who pick up five yellow cards in the first 19 matches of the season must serve a one-match suspension, which Romero did earlier in the campaign.
However, now that we are past the 19-game mark, the Spurs players can breathe a little easier.
The next mark they have to worry about is the 10-yellow card mark. The players who accumulate double-digit bookings on or before the 32nd league fixture have to serve a two-match suspension.
Romero is currently on seven yellow Premier League cards, which means that he has to avoid getting three more within the next 11 league matches.
Spurs boosted by the addition of Conor Gallagher
Tottenham face several injury problems, with Richarlison and Rodrigo Bentancur becoming the latest players to be sidelined for an extended period.
However, Spurs have been boosted by the addition of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid, and the 25-year-old is expected to make his home debut on Saturday.
Thomas Frank has admitted that he is delighted to add Gallagher to his squad, and the Dane would be hopeful that the England international will help address the issues his side have had in the middle of the park.
