Stanford women’s basketball wins big in Boston
Stanford women’s basketball (15-4, 4-2 ACC) dominated Boston College (4-16, 0-7 ACC) on their home court as they limited the Eagles to single-digit points in three of the four quarters. After a complete reversal in the game flow that saw the Eagles outscore the Cardinal 28-11 in the final quarter, Stanford walked off the court with a convincing 77-52 win Thursday night.
Stanford was able to build a lead as big as 42 points behind a strong performance from freshman guard Hailee Swain. The 2025 Jordan Brand Classic All-American collected seven rebounds and dropped a career-high 15 points. Ogden was right behind Swain with 13 points while adding a team-high six assists.
Stanford built a sizable lead out the gates, jumping out to a 10-2 lead midway through the first quarter. The early run was later followed by a 13-0 run that started late in the first quarter and continued in the opening minutes of the second quarter. The large lead throughout the game allowed for Stanford to empty its bench as all of the Cardinal’s available players saw the floor.
The Cardinal’s defense set the tone early, holding Boston College to just six points in the second quarter and nine in both the first and third as Stanford carried a 66-24 advantage into the fourth at Conte Forum. Stanford controlled the interior, scoring 52 points in the paint and turning 15 offensive rebounds into 18 second-chance points. Junior forward Nunu Agara and freshman forward Lara Somfai chipped in 10 points apiece, helping Stanford win the rebounding battle 44-24.
Stanford will continue their road trip as they head to New York to play Syracuse (15-3, 5-2 ACC) on Sunday. A win against the Orange would be meaningful with Stanford sitting just below Syracuse in the conference standings.
Before heading back to The Farm for a heavyweight battle against No. 9 Louisville (17-3, 7-0 ACC), Stanford will face off against Cal (10-9, 1-5) on Jan. 25. The women’s squad has an impressive 50-9 all-time record against the Golden Bears. The two teams played at Maples Pavilion last month with the home team picking up the 78-69 win.
Tip-off for the Syracuse road game is set for 11 a.m.
