Sadie Sink Gets Real About Her Mystery Marvel Role in 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day'
While there's no shortage of fan excitement for what Marvel has on tap for 2026, the intrigue and speculation around its two high-profile movie releases remain at an all-time high. Much of the conversation has centered on the unknowns surrounding the star-studded December release, Avengers: Doomsday, but many people remain stuck on Marvel's late-summer release, specifically a few key questions about it. With Tom Holland set to reprise his superhero role in July's Spider-Man: Brand New Day, there'll also be several new faces, one of which is the popular Stranger Things star Sadie Sink. As for Sink's role in the new addition to the Spider-Man series, the unknown has left fans speculating endlessly.
However, Marvel has remained consistent in its focus on keeping certain things under wraps. So, when Sink recently spoke about joining Spider-Man: Brand New Day, it quickly grabbed attention.
Gwen Stacy, Jean Grey, a Villain? Sadie Sink's 'Spider-Man' Role Has Been Under Wraps
In terms of fan theories, there are admittedly probably too many to even list regarding guesses for Sink's role in the upcoming Spider-Man. Some believe she'll play Gwen Stacy, others think she'll have ties to Jon Bernthal's Punisher, and there have also been theories that the 23-year-old will play a villain in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
The speculation and intrigue around Sink's jump into the Marvel world is so overwhelming that a simple search on social media is enough to make your head spin. To make it even more frustrating for fans, you can find Sink's name listed in the first spot of IMDb's "top cast" for the movie, with a blank space just below where the character she's playing would be.
Here are a few of the characters Sink has been linked to in various theories across social media:
- Gwen Stacy
- Jean Grey, with Bernthal's Punisher protecting her
- Julia Carpenter/Madame Web
- A villain (several theories, including Shathra, Black Cat and Screaming Mimi/Songbird)
- Mayday Parker
Sink's latest public comments on Spider-Man: Brand New Day may bring some mixed feelings to those fans who have speculated about her role. However, it appears social media may have known she was joining Holland and the rest of the cast before she even found out.
Sadie Sink's Comments on 'Spider-Man: Brand New Day' Theories Involving Her Character
Now, there's some good news and some (more) bad news. On the positive side, Sink finally spoke a bit more about Spider-Man: Brand New Day. The bad news? She handled the topic of her mystery role like a Marvel veteran while speaking on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon.
Sink admitted that not being able to reveal her role is "torture," while also discussing the broad speculation that she obviously sees.
"It's torture," Sink said of keeping her Spider-Man role under wraps. "And there's so much speculation, too. I feel like there's a new character every week."
Turn away if you don't want a bit more bad news, as Sink admitted she's told people who she's playing in Spider-Man: Brand New Day.
"Yeah, I tell people. I mean, the people I know. Yeah, of course [my family knows]," Sink said.
Interestingly, Sink provided one reason for optimism if you've tossed out theories on her role. She said that before even being cast in the Marvel film, she actually found out about her role thanks to speculation online. She also added that there's "sometimes some truth" to the theories posted online.
Unfortunately, Marvel doesn't seem poised to show its hand anytime soon regarding Sink's character in Spider-Man: Brand New Day. Fans may have to wait until the movie hits theaters on July 31 to officially see if any of the theories were correct.
