Netflix's ‘Single’s Inferno’ Season 5 Rumored Cast Includes Two Professional Athletes
Single’s Inferno — South Korea’s version of Too Hot to Handle — recently released the poster and trailer for its upcoming fifth season, quickly getting fans talking about who made the cut in the search for love in “the world’s hottest hell — solo hell,” per the show’s tagline.
Past contestants have included Miss Korea winners, influencers, actors, models, and athletes, along with those boasting high-profile careers such as surgeons and Ivy League students.
This time around, the show promises a more well-rounded cast — with the exception of two already buzzed-about cast members, whom fans have identified as a professional track-and-field athlete and a volleyball player famous for his good looks.
Who Made the Cast So Far?
For the upcoming season, producer Kim Jae-won spoke about a revamped casting process, which will feature the largest number of participants ever in the series’ run.
Following criticism of the show’s prior casting process — which relied heavily on social media — Kim said the team took a more retro approach to finding singles looking for love.
“We changed our strategy and made flyers the old-fashioned way,” he said, according to Star News. “We put them up in gyms, hair salons, and restaurants that cast members who fit our mold would likely visit, and waited.”
Whether track and field star Kim Mingee was scouted via flyers has yet to be confirmed, but she is the first official contestant revealed to be stranded on Single’s Inferno this season.
Next is volleyball player Lim Sung Jin, who plays professionally as an outside hitter for the Uijeongbu KB Insurance Stars in South Korea. He already boasts 1 million followers on Instagram.
Additionally, two other faces featured on the season’s poster have been tagged by fans.
Another former Miss Korea winner, Kim Goeun, is rumored to have joined the cast and appears at the very front of the lineup, clad in an orange halter top.
Mina Sue Choi — a former Miss Earth winner and the pageant’s first-ever Korean titleholder — is also identified on the poster, featured on the center bottom in a flower-print, off-the-shoulder ensemble.
According to Harper’s Bazaar Singapore, additional rumored cast members include professional volleyball player Kim Jihan, actress Song Eunwoo, musician Danny Koo, and weather forecaster Lee Yeji.
What Is Single’s Inferno?
The show’s premise centers on a group of sexy singles dropped onto a deserted island off the coast of South Korea, where they mingle, endure the heat, and compete in a series of physical, body-to-body games. Winners earn the chance to escape the “Inferno” for “Paradise” — an overnight stay in a luxury penthouse suite equipped with a pool or hot tub, and, if they’re lucky, the date of their choosing.
On the season’s steamy expectations, panelist Kyuhyun teased the cast’s boldness at a production showcase. “On dating shows, people usually try to manage their image, but this time the contestants were shockingly honest and expressive in front of the camera,” he said, adding that the new season features the “sexiest” pool scenes in the show’s history.
Single’s Inferno Season 5 premieres on Netflix January 20.
