Nature's Own Just Launched a Bread Loaf Packed With 22 Grams of Protein Per Serving
Protein is everywhere you turn. Nearly six in 10 global food consumers say they actively try to eat more protein, and new U.S. dietary guidelines are pushing Americans in the same direction. About 70 percent of Americans say they want to increase their protein intake, an increase of nearly 20 percent in a short three years.
The shift towards protein-rich diets has resulted in a race for brands to launch their own twists on protein snacks. Popular brands are putting protein into everything from popcorn to ice cream. Starbucks recently rolled out protein coffees, Smucker’s launched protein-packed Uncrustables, and now a major bread brand is getting in on the action.
Nature’s Own has officially launched Life Wheat + Protein Bread. Two slices of bread, the standard serving size, will get you 22 grams of protein. That comes with 150 calories, 2 grams of fat, and 18 grams of carbs. Not a bad nutrition profile for bread. Plus, the ingredient list is pretty minimal, especially compared to many ultra-processed high-protein products.

With so many people focused on upping their protein, Nature's Own saw a clear gap in the market they could fill for consumers.
"To meet their needs, we've developed a tasty, protein-rich and keto-friendly sandwich bread that also delivers on the Nature's Own brand promise of no artificial flavors, colors, preservatives, and no high fructose corn syrup," said Krystle Farlow, senior director of brand management at Nature's Own.

Full disclosure: we haven’t tried it yet. We'll update this once we do. But Nature’s Own has certainly built its reputation on its soft, pillowy bread. If this new loaf lives up to the same standard with its high-protein content, it could be a game-changer. Picture a turkey sandwich made with this bread. You're already well on your way to hitting your daily protein goal before even adding the meat.
If you try it out, let us know what you think in the comments.
