COSAFA teams to face-off at TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026
South Africa were drawn in Group B at the TotalEnergies CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations Morocco 2026 finals where they will take on Burkina Faso, the Ivory Coast and Tanzania, while COSAFA rivals Zambia and Malawi are in the same pool in Group C.
The tournament is scheduled to be played from March 17 to April 3.
It is a favourable draw for Banyana, who need to get to the semi-finals if they are to qualify for next year’s FIFA Women’s World Cup Brazil 2027.
The Ivorians compete in the tournament after getting a wildcard into the finals when the size of the competition was increased to 16 team after the preliminaries were completed in October.
Tanzania return to the finals after competing for a second time last year while Burkina Faso played once previously in the 2022 tournament, which South Africa won.
Group B’s matches will all be at the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat with the tournament kicking off on March 17 and the final played on April 3.
Meanwhile, Zambia and Malawi meet in Group C, where they are up against defending champions Nigeria in a tough pool that will be staged in Casablanca. Egypt are the fourth team.
The Confederation of African Football announced for the first time the four venues for the tournament, which are the Moulay Hassan Stadium and the Al Madina Stadium in Rabat plus the Complexe Sportive in Fes and the Larbi Zaouli Stadium in Casablanca.
Only the Larbi Zaouli Stadium was not used for the men’s Cup of Nations, which concludes in Morocco at the weekend.
South Africa were one of the four top seeds, along with holders Nigeria, hosts Morocco and Ghana, who have been runners-up three times previously.
Africa has four places at the Women’s World Cup in 2027 and these finals serve as the qualifiers.
