Netflix Announces New Pete Davidson Podcast From His Garage
Former Saturday Night Livestar Pete Davidson is no stranger to Netflix, with several stand-up comedy specials hosted by the streaming giant. Now, he's launching a new historic venture with Netflix: a podcast.
On Wednesday, Netflix announced that the comedian will be hosting “The Pete Davidson Show,” which will begin streaming later this month.
'It Felt Right'
While it's not clear exactly what the podcast will be, Netflix teased that it will feature Davidson and his "famous friends" having conversations in a rather fitting location: the comedian's garage.
“‘The Pete Davidson Show’ will see the comedian sitting down with his famous friends for revealing conversations from the comfort of his garage,” Netflix wrote in a statement.
For Davidson, it sounds like partnering with Netflix was a no-brainer given his previous relationship with the streaming giant.
“Netflix was the home of one of my first stand-up specials,” Davidson said in a statement, “so it felt right to bring the podcast there, too. It’s me and my friends talking about anything and everything. It’s going to be a great time.”
Davidson has made two comedy specials for Netflix: “Alive From New York” in 2020 and “Turbo Fonzarelli” in 2024.
The new video podcast will begin streaming on Jan. 30 with episodes released weekly.
A Netflix First
The new podcast marks a significant milestone for Netflix as it will be the streaming giant's first original video podcast. It's also part of a larger push from Netflix into the podcast space.
In addition to this original podcast, Netflix has also begun partnering with companies like iHeartMedia, Barstool Sports, Spotify Studios, and The Ringer to bring popular podcasts exclusively to Netflix.
The shows include The Bill Simmons Podcast, My Favorite Murder, and Barstool’s Pardon My Take, among several others.
We'll have to see what Davidson and Netflix have in store for this project.
