'I don't want to waste any time': Conor Gallagher outlines his first target as a Tottenham player
Tottenham supporters will be eagerly awaiting Conor Gallagher’s debut for the club since his January move, and they might not have to wait too long.
The move for Conor Gallagher was something of a surprise for Tottenham, but the relatively cheap deal is largely regarded as a positive for the Lilywhites.
While Gallagher is not necessarily the type of player Spurs needed, he brings experience, quality, and versatility to Thomas Frank’s squad.
There are plenty of ways Spurs can use Gallagher from here on out, but when will he be thrown into action? If it were up to the player himself, he would be playing this weekend.
Conor Gallagher is desperate to get going at Tottenham
We already know how happy Gallagher is to be at Tottenham, and in his first interview with the Club, the midfielder has outlined his ambitions to be part of the team this weekend against West Ham.
He said: “I’m ready to get on the pitch now… I’m so hungry now, I’ve had a year and a half out of the Premier League.
“I don’t want to waste any time, we’ve got a game in a couple of days and I want to be a part of that. I’m fit and raring to go and I’m ready to work as hard as I can and do whatever role I’m needed to do.”
With Pape Sarr still on AFCON duty, Rodrigo Bentancur out injured, and Yves Bissouma out in the cold, there’s every chance Gallagher gets some minutes at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this weekend.
Thomas Frank worked hard to sign Gallagher
Judging by Thomas Frank’s comments on Tottenham’s first signing of the January window, he will be just as eager to use Gallagher as the man himself is to play.
Frank said: “Conor is a top midfielder, who we have worked tirelessly to add to our squad. He is still young, so has plenty of room for improvement, but also has huge experience across the Premier League, La Liga and with the England national team.
“Conor has captained teams so will bring leadership, maturity, character and personality to our dressing room, while his running power, pressing ability and eye for goal will strengthen us in a key area of the pitch.
“I’m excited about working with him every day and I know the fans will love what he will bring to the team.”
