U.S.-based Nonprofit Financed a Hamas Operative, Claim Glenn Beck and the Mauro Institute

Conservative political commentator Glenn Beck and the Mauro Institute claim, in a recent report, that they have discovered yet another instance of U.S. funds being channeled to terrorism.

The Gateway Pundit spoke to national security analyst Ryan Mauro, founder of the Mauro Institute. According to him, People Media Project, a Washington state nonprofit has likely funneled money to the spouse of a Hamas hostage holder, who was subsequently killed by the Israeli Defense Force.

“Evidence appears to indicate that the organization, registered as People Media Project in 2012 and functioning under the name of The Palestine Chronicle, has violated laws that prohibit providing material support to designated Foreign Terrorist Organizations, such as Hamas, which includes financial support to known members,” said Mauro.

“In June 2024, Israeli forces killed Fatima Aljamal and her husband, Abdallah, a recognized Hamas operative, while attempting to rescue three hostages,” he shared, adding that Abdallah had been a writer for The Palestine Chronicle since 2019 and served as a publicly known spokesman for Hamas’s Ministry of Labor.

He noted that “an article in the Chronicle written by Abdallah on May 17, 2024, names his wife Fatima as the Initiative Coordinator for an event in Gaza aimed at offering free haircuts to Palestinian children.”

“At the end of the article,” Mauro said, “there is an unusual line of text that says, ‘Funds used to organize this initiative were raised from personal donations by Palestine Chronicle editors.’” This text verifies that leaders of The Palestine Chronicle sent funds to Fatima.

Mauro said, “The Chronicle also reported that her spouse, Abdallah, was a journalist killed by the Israel Defense Forces.” Interestingly, he added that Abdallah’s title was changed from “correspondent” to “freelance contributor” shortly thereafter. In Mauro’s opinion, “this was nothing more than a deliberate attempt to deny any meaningful association to him or his terrorist activities, suggesting that he was not a staff writer a contractor.”

The national security analyst asserted, “What they failed to point out is the fact that his wife was on their staff and received funds from the editors of the Chronicle.”

This discovery bolsters the argument for the lawsuit against Ramzy Baroud and John Harvey, the leaders of the registered nonprofit organization behind The Palestine Chronicle, Mauro shared.

He said, “Baroud, a Palestinian-American, reacted sympathetically to the October 7 terrorist attacks without condemning the atrocities.” On X, he wrote, “We are not asking the world to arm Palestinians, or to even cheer for them; but to at least understand that violence begets violence, and that military occupation and apartheid begets resistance.”

Shortly thereafter, Baroud wrote for The Palestine Chronicle that “[the October 7 Hamas operation] served as a stark notification to Israel that the rules of engagement have irrevocably shifted, and that the besieged Palestinians refuse to submit to their supposed historical role of perpetual victimhood.” Again, there was no condemnation of the murders of more than 1,200 innocent men, women, and children—including 46 Americans.

Mauro added that Baroud has also contributed to websites run by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and for a website directly linked to the Supreme Leader of Iran himself, and was once Deputy Managing Editor for Al-Jazeera, a terror-linked media outlet.

He explained that the lawsuit he claims The Palestine Chronicle hired Abdallah Aljamal, a known Hamas operative. It further alleges that he was provided with their U.S. platform to create and spread Hamas propaganda, which was ultimately funded by U.S. taxpayers through its tax-exempt charitable organization status.

After reviewing the lawsuit, Mauro said the plaintiff also noted that Abdallah’s contributions to The Palestine Chronicle surged significantly following the October 7 attacks, stating that he frequently published two to three articles each day.

“While the plaintiff noted that the Chronicle’s article refers to Fatima as a member of its staff,” he said, “the primary issue in the dispute has centered on whether the Chronicle compensated her husband for his writing contributions to the publication.”

“The Chronicle’s pro-Hamas position, combined with the background of Baroud, a Palestinian activist leading the organization since 1999, suggests a clear intention to offer practical support to Hamas,” according to Mauro. “This support may involve financial assistance for Fatima, including compensation for her husband’s writing, along with backing the organization’s wider efforts.”

Mauro said, “A letter from the House Committee on Ways and Means was also sent to Attorney General Merrick Garland in July 2024, alleging that The Palestine Chronicle and People Media Project may have submitted false tax returns to obscure the extent of its revenue, potentially warranting the IRS’s revocation of its tax-exempt status.”

For Mauro, Congress must follow through with a federal investigation. He stated that he and Glenn Beck will be providing “substantial evidence” to senior levels of President Donald Trump’s administration.
