Warriors-Trail Blazers matchup sets new 3-point record
SAN FRANCISCO — While current superstar Steph Curry and former star sharpshooter Klay Thompson dominate the individual 3-point record book, there are a few team records the Warriors still do not claim ownership of.
But on Tuesday night, the Warriors — with some help from their opponent — added one of those records to their collection.
Golden State routed the Blazers 119-97 at Chase Center, and when Quinten Post made his first 3-pointer of the night with 35 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter, that set a new record for most players to make a 3-pointer in a single game with 21 according to Warriors director of statistical information Daryl Arata. .
A 2022 game between Brooklyn and Toronto, and a 2020 matchup between the Nets and Bucks each saw the teams combine to have 20 players make at least one 3-pointer.
In the record-breaking performance, the Warriors went 23 of 57 from behind the arc. Of the 14 active players, only Pat Spencer, Gary Payton II, Buddy Hield and Trayce Jackson-Davis did not make a 3-pointer.
Steph Curry was surprisingly only 2 of 8 from behind the line, but he made up for that by dishing out 10 assists.
Portland was only 14 of 47 from long range, but each of the 11 players who suited up for the Blazers made at least one 3-pointer.
