FC Sol Joins San Diego Surf North: The Best of the Best in North County

San Diego, CA, January 13thSurf is proud to announce our continued expansion and investment into North County with the addition of FC Sol Soccer, transitioning immediately into the Surf brand in conjunction with San Diego Surf.

In the world of youth sports, Surf is recognized as the leading youth soccer brand in grassroots development, renowned for professionalism, on-field performance, football education, and most importantly, a deep commitment to player development. Surf’s mission is to create the best experiences and opportunities for players, coaches and families, and we’re excited to continue growing our presence in North County, CA.

The new club launches in strategic partnership with San Diego Surf, within the Surf Nation community, and will be rebranded as San Diego Surf North. San Diego is the home of the Surf Soccer brand and has a proven track record of developing players into national teams, professional academies and collegiate ranks, along with capturing over 20 National titles in youth soccer’s most elite leagues. With this expansion in the North, the club has the ability to provide similar opportunities and experiences to even more players in the wider San Diego area.

FC Sol Soccer has a true commitment to providing a world class experience in San Marcos, and has been a growing member of that community for some time. The organization is led by an experienced leadership that now has greater resources and pathways, locally, regionally, and nationally.

“I’m thrilled to expand San Diego Surf into San Diego North County,” says Paul Holohan, San Diego Surf’s Regional Director. “This region has such a strong soccer culture, and bringing Surf to San Marcos allows us to continue what we do best – delivering excellence, fostering community, and creating opportunity. After more than two decades working in this market, it’s incredibly exciting to keep growing the game and providing an elite environment for players and families throughout the region. Expanding our footprint allows us to further strengthen the player development pathway, and I couldn’t be more excited about what’s ahead for San Diego Surf in North County.”

“I’m thrilled to be back with the San Diego Surf and our staff at FC Sol is very excited with what we will achieve together. We are looking forward to a great year of growth for our players, teams, and coaches with bigger and better opportunities for the San Marcos and North County soccer community.” – Holland Hanson, Director of Coaching San Diego Surf North

“Our commitment to player development has driven our success as a club. In a few seasons, we have been able to secure national programming, compete for regional and national titles, and have players participate in ODP player pools. We are excited to join Surf Nation to provide our players and families with additional resources, support, and pathways. To be a part of a top-notch organization that sets the standard for soccer excellence nationwide is a powerful next chapter for our organization. This partnership will help elevate our organization, coaching staff, and players, and provide additional exposure and opportunities.” – Janet Parise, Executive of Operations

Additionally, players from across our San Diego Surf North chapter will now have direct access to Surf Select, an unprecedented identification program built through Surf Nation for players U9 through U17 at the Regional and National level. The Surf Select program draws from the Surf Network, a player pool that expands across North America, with our teams competing in some of the best domestic and international events in the world of football.
