Man United coaching staff revealed ahead of Michael Carrick era
Manchester United are poised to enter a comforting chapter of familiarity, with club favourite Michael Carrick set to be unveiled as caretaker head coach.
The former midfielder is expected to steer the side through the remainder of a turbulent 2025–26 campaign.
INEOS pulled the trigger on Ruben Amorim last week and plan to install a permanent successor once the season draws to a close.
Reputed journalist Sami Mokbel has now revealed the coaching staff who will support Carrick on the touchline.
Former England assistant manager Steve Holland is set to be his number two.
Holland has previously worked under Jose Mourinho, Antonio Conte and Rafael Benitez at Chelsea.
He also served alongside Gareth Southgate, helping guide England to back-to-back European Championship finals in 2021 and 2024.
Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans and Travis Binnion will also be part of Carrick’s backroom staff.
Darren Fletcher led United in the last two games and was offered the chance to remain within the first-team setup.
However, the 41-year-old will instead return to his developmental roots by resuming his role with the Under-18s.
Evans officially drew the curtain on his playing career at the end of the 2024–25 season.
He briefly stepped into the role of Head of Loans and Pathways before standing aside last month to prioritise family life.
Woodgate has a good relationship with Carrick, having worked under the former United midfielder at Middlesbrough.
Carrick and his staff are expected to be officially announced soon, with their first fixture set to be the highly-anticipated Manchester Derby this weekend.
