Corbyn Besson Addresses Breakup of His Boy Band Why Don't We & What He Learned for His Solo Career (Exclusive)
Corbyn Besson is getting candid about the end of Why Don’t We.
The 27-year-old former boy band member-turned-solo star made an appearance on I’ve Never Said this Before with Tommy DiDario, just ahead of the release of his debut EP HEAD FIRST on Friday (January 16).
During the conversation, he got honest about the breakup of his band, as well as embarking on his solo career.

“It was a slow burn, but a quick explosion,” he admitted of the group’s end.
The “8 Letters” group launched in 2016, and took a hiatus in 2022, eventually losing the rights to the group name last year, marking their formal end.

“It became a journey of self-discovery after that. I pretty quickly realized I didn’t know who I was outside of the group,” he continued.
“Me and the guys weren’t even all together in the same room when we made the call to announce our hiatus which is crazy — it didn’t feel real at the time.”
Corbyn also discussed what he learned from those boy band days that he’s carrying into his solo career.
“Towards the end of the group I learned to start trusting my gut a bit more and being confident in understanding I am who I am and that’s good enough,” he explained.
