Man charged with raping 12-year-old girl he met on Roblox: cops

A New Jersey man raped a 12-year-old girl multiple times after finding her on Roblox and Snapchat, authorities said Monday.

Alex Torres-Lopez, a 35-year-old Bridgeton man, was arrested Jan. 7 and charged with multiple counts of sexual assault, the Mercer County Prosecutor’s office said Monday in a press release.

Torres-Lopez began messaging his victim over Snapchat and Roblox in late 2025, the prosecutor’s office said. Investigators learned the two met in person “multiple times” during that period, and Torres-Lopez “engaged in sexual intercourse” with the victim.

Additionally, Torres-Lopez convinced the victim to send him pornographic videos and images of herself, according to authorities.

Trenton police spoke with the county prosecutor’s office on Jan. 5 about a tip that a 12-year-old Trenton girl had been abused, which started the investigation into Torres-Lopez. He was arrested two days later.

Torres-Lopez was charged with first-degree sexual assault, second-degree sexual assault and “multiple counts of endangering the welfare of a child related to the possession and distribution of child sexual abuse material,” the prosecutor’s office said.

Roblox, a video game popular with children, has been used before as a platform for sexual predators to prey on kids. Last month, a Queens man and four other suspects were arrested in a nationwide child sex exploitation ring that used the platform to target victims.
