'I want...': £35m winger could reject Tottenham after name-checking Liverpool as dream destination
Spurs need reinforcements all over the pitch, it seems, but there’s one target who may be out of reach already after his latest comments.
It already looks like Tottenham’s decision to sell Brennan Johnson was a mistake, with Mohammed Kudus suffering an injury just days later.
That leaves Thomas Frank short of options in the wide areas. Thankfully, it’s January, and the Lilywhites could and should be able to sign a player capable of solving that problem.
However, one player who was linked with a move to North London has played down the idea while suggesting he would rather go to Liverpool.

Tottenham target Christos Tzolis eyes Liverpool or Barcelona move
Tottenham had been mooted as one of the suitors looking at Club Brugge star Christos Tzolis after the Greek winger continued his impressive form over in Belgium.
However, in an interview with Het Nieuwsblad, Tzolis said: “I want to go to a top team. That’s all I can say. I’m not aware of any concrete interest at the moment, so I’m not even considering it. Maybe you know more than I do.
“I’d like to win the title here first. Although you never know, so I can’t say with 100% certainty that I’ll stay this winter. If a crazy team comes along, like Barcelona, Liverpool… Anyway, you know what I mean. But I don’t think that will happen in the winter.”
Clearly, a transfer in this window doesn’t appear to be high on Tzolis’ agenda. But, even if it was, the lure of Liverpool and Barcelona may be too strong for him to even consider joining Spurs.
Christos Tzolis stats this season
Some fans may remember Tzolis from his time with Norwich City, but since leaving the Canaries in 2023 he’s taken his game to the next level.
This season alone, Tzolis has registered 11 goals and 15 assists in 30 games for Club Brugge and is one of the most productive players in the Jupiler Pro League. He’s even been performing in the Champions League, too, so he’s obviously ready to step up to one of Europe’s top five divisions.
What’s really impressive about Tzolis is the sheer creativity he brings. As per FBRef, the 23-year-old is logging an average of 5.47 shot-creating actions per 90 minutes, which is far higher than your average winger.
For reference, Mohammed Kudus is at 3.04 shot-creating actions per 90, while Brennan Johnson was registering as little as 1.77 during his time at Spurs.
