SG Pipers beat Hyderabad Toofans 2-1; register first win in the Men’s Hero Hockey India League 2025-26

A brace from Tomas Domene and a Player of the Match performance from Tomas Santiago helped SG Pipers get over the line 



Ranchi: SG Pipers secured their first win in the Men’s Hero Hockey India League (HIL) 2025-26, prevailing 2-1 against Hyderabad Toofans at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium on Monday.

Ranchi: HIL GC defeated Accord Tamil Nadu Dragons 4-2 in the Men’s Hero Hockey India League 2025-26 at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi on Monday. Kane Russell (14', 33', 47'), and Sam Ward (23') scored the goals for HIL GC while Blake Govers (32') and Uttam Singh (56')  were the goalscorers for Accord Tamil Nadu Dragons. 



SG Pipers secures first win, beats Hyderabad Toofans 2-1

Goalkeeper Tomas Santiago emerged as the match-winner for Pipers, denying a penalty stroke to Toofans and making crucial saves in the final minute of the contest.

After 13 matches across two seasons, SG Pipers secured its first win as a brace from Tomas Domene and match-saving denials of custodian Tomas Santiago helped it beat Hyderabad Toofans 2-1 in Ranchi on Monday.

SG Pipers secured their first win of the Men’s Hockey India League 2025–26 with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Hyderabad Toofans at the Marang Gomke Jaipal Singh Astro Turf Hockey Stadium in Ranchi on Monday. A brace from Tomas Domene and a standout goalkeeping performance from Tomas Santiago proved decisive for the Pipers.

KUALA LUMPUR: The national men's hockey team plan to get high-intensity matches in their playing tour in Perth, Australia from Jan 16-24 in preparation for the World Cup qualifying tournament in Ismailia, Egypt from March 1-7.

Rotterdam will have a new men's coach after this season. The club reports that head coach Erik van Driel will leave after the end of this hockey year.



Matias Vila leaves as coach of Tilburg's team

Coach Matias Vila has decided to end his work with the ladies of Tilburg. The Argentine, in his second season with the Tilburg team, will start work as analytical coach with the India ladies, which is led by Sjoerd Marijne.



No change at the top of the Scottish women's indoor division 1

There is little change at the top of the women's indoor division 1, in particular Clydesdale Western are still in pole position after continuing their unbeaten run. With three games Watsonians have caught up and lie in second spot three points adrift with Wildcats in third a further three points behind.  Elsewhere, Inverleith and Dundee Wanderers both lie a bit behind on nine points, but goal difference pushes the former into fourth.   GHK, Grange and Hillhead lie in the lower echelons.
