Why did you join the board?
Anjulie
I joined the NSMBA Board to contribute my governance, strategy, and leadership experience to an organization that plays a critical role in the stewardship of our trails and riding culture. Strong governance ensures that the NSMBA remains transparent, accountable, and sustainable—able to make sound decisions that balance the needs of our members, stakeholders and partners. By serving on the board, I can help shape policy, guide long-term strategy, and ensure the organization is well-positioned to deliver on its mission for years to come.

I joined the NSMBA a Board Director last year because I realized I was undercontributing to the North Shore trails that I have been riding for nearly 3 decades! It dawned on me that I could be bringing my job expertise to the table to really help guide, shape, and support the organization that works so relentlessly hard to steward and maintain our trail network in the mecca of mountain biking we are blessed to be a part of. I have been able to contribute my expertise in executive leadership, decision making, revenue generation, business/financial acumen, nonprofit policy, org design and more.

I was fortunate to have a skillset that matched what the NSMBA needed at the time of my election, and it’s been an excellent opportunity to put my professional and educational background to work in support of the trails and community I care about. The board lets me give back in a meaningful way while staying connected with the biking community, helping ensure public input becomes real trail work.

I re-joined the NSMBA board to continue the long standing mission of Trails for All, Trails Forever and to share my passion for mountain biking. My children having grown a bit older and now budding mountain bikers themselves, I wanted to return to the NSMBA’s board with the perspective of a dad as well as that of an avid trail user. Over the past two years, I have had the opportunity to contribute financial knowledge (being a CPA, CA in my professional career) as well as historic context to the board – having previously served as director between 2010 and 2017. I look forward to applying for another term as director when my term ends at this year’s AGM.
