Lazio targeted Toth, but Bournemouth leading transfer battle
Lazio look as if they will miss out on Ferencvaros midfielder Alex Toth, as multiple sources suggest Bournemouth are leading the race.
The 20-year-old Hungary international had been the first choice to replace Matteo Guendouzi, after Kenneth Taylor’s arrival from Ajax last week, as the squad remains short-staffed in the middle of the pitch.
Toth has been linked with numerous clubs in recent weeks, including Newcastle United, Real Betis, Liverpool and Borussia Dortmund.
Toth looks to be off the table for Lazio
Lazio had hoped to get a deal over the line, but multiple sources including Sky Sport Italia and OneFootball note that Premier League side Bournemouth have taken a significant lead in this battle.
A product of the Ferencvaros youth academy, Toth scored two goals and provided five assists in 25 competitive games so far this season.
Despite only turning 20 in October 2025, he already has nine senior caps for his country.
Lazio will therefore turn their focus back to Giovanni Fabbian, although the Bologna asking price is likely to be a problem too.
